The 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor is an all-new off-road-ready truck. It comes standard with the hardware and performance technology you need to travel deep into the mountains, including rock crawl mode. And shoppers can choose from three equipment levels to create the Tremor truck that has the features they need at a price that makes sense. Without further ado, we present our 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor preview.
What is the 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor?
The upcoming F-150 Tremor is a new off-road-ready pickup truck from Ford. It comes standard with all-terrain upgrades, including a rugged four-wheel-drive system. Like other F-150 models, the Tremor’s combination of a high-strength steel frame and military-grade aluminum alloy body panels help create a capable, maneuverable performance.
This full-size pickup truck was meant to traverse treacherous terrain. Turn on the rock crawl mode to turn off the traction and stability control systems, reduce throttle response, and engage the rear locker.
Here’s what each Tremor model has to offer:
- Upgraded suspension and driveline hardware for increased suspension travel, approach, departure, and brakeover angles
- Standard rear locking differential
- Optional Torsen limited-slip differential
- Raptor-style bash plate
- Off-road running boards
- Unique hood and grille with Active Orange highlights
- Unique trim and technology packages
The F-150 Tremor also offers Ford’s cutting-edge new off-road technology, including:
- Trail Control (low-speed off-road cruise control)
- Trail One-Pedal Drive (one-pedal acceleration and braking control)
- Trail Turn Assist (uses torque vectoring to shrink turn radius)
What makes this off-road-ready truck tick?
Under the Tremor hood, you’ll find the F-150’s most capable engine, a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6. It produces an outstanding output of 400 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that’s specially designed for rugged action.
You can rest assured that this pickup will be quick on the pavement and capable in just about any off-road setting. And every F-150 Tremor also comes standard with four-wheel drive, so you can drive away from the dealership and straight onto your favorite off-road trail. Indeed, the four-wheel-drive system’s transfer case was taken directly from the infamously off-road-ready F-150 Raptor, so you know it’s ready for truly rugged terrain.
Properly equipped, the Tremor will be able to tow up to 10,900 pounds. Max payloads will reach 1,885 pounds.
This off-road-ready pickup is also an excellent workhorse. The optional 2.0-kW onboard generator offers dual 120V 20A outlets in the truck bed, so you’re always ready to power-up your power tools.
