The 2020 Ford F-350 and Ram 3500 are heavy-duty trucks designed for drivers who need to tow and haul massive equipment and supply loads. But they’re much more than mighty workhorses. Both trucks are luxurious, high-tech, and modern. At Jones Ford, we’re here to give you a closer look at the F-350 and Ram3500. We’ll help you choose your best heavy-duty truck.
More in Modern Refinement: 2020 Ram 3500
With the 2020 Ram 3500, the brand continues its grand tradition of best-in-class interior refinement. You can’t help but love its comfy seating and quiet cruise. Climb the trim levels for more in high-end cabin materials and options like leather upholstery. Add the load-leveling rear air suspension for extra on-road comfort.
However, the 2020 Ford F-350 is a close competitor, maintaining high comfort levels with generous passenger space and all manner of luxury options. Its top-tier luxury trim models, like the Platinum and Limited, are undeniably opulent, including features like power running boards and a panoramic sunroof. Still, the F-350 lacks the Ram 3500’s smooth-riding suspension options.
Better Rugged Adventure: 2020 Ford F-350
All work and no play makes your heavy-duty truck a dull boy, and that’s why the F-350 offers an excellent off-roading experience. Add the FX4 package to any trim model for greater capabilities on the trail. And its all-new Tremor package takes performance to an all-time high, upgrading the F-350 with an extra 2 inches of front lift and a shorter air dam, as well as 35-inch all-terrain tires.
Although you can add four-wheel drive to any Ram 3500 trim model, there’s no special off-road trim level or package that you can choose to enhance your off-road adventure. This heavy-duty truck is capable in the dirt, if not quite as fun-loving as the F-350.
Tows and Hauls More: 2020 Ford F-350
Heavy-duty drivers need a truck that can tow and haul serious weight. The F-350 is the better choice, then, because it beats out the Ram 3500 in both the towing and hauling departments. Depending on configuration and equipment, Ford’s heavy-duty truck can tow up to 37,000 pounds. Payload ratings reach up to 7,850 pounds. Whether you’re in possession of an enormous camper or simply need to haul more than 7,000 pounds of bricks around, the F-350 is on your side.
Of course, the Ram 3500 is also extremely capable. Its maximum tow ratings reach 35,100 pounds. And it can haul up to 7,690 pounds in the truck bed, depending on body style and equipment. However, as you can see, this Ram pickup can’t quite compete with its Ford counterpart, at least not when it comes to performance.
Best Work-Friendly Gear: 2020 Ford F-350
The F-350 has some performance features you won’t find anywhere else, making it an excellent choice for drivers who crave high-tech convenience. For instance, Ford’s Pro Trailer Backup Assist, which lets you guide a trailer in the desired direction, is currently the only technology of its kind. Camera-based towing aids help you hitch a trailer and monitor blind spots.
With a surround-view camera system of its own, the Ram 3500 also helps you guide this hefty vehicle through tight spaces. It might not have an interior control that helps you back a trailer in the desired direction, but this Ram truck offers many of the same safety aids as you’ll find on the F-350—namely, blind-spot alert and automatic emergency braking.
There’s a lot to love about the 2020 Ram 3500, but it’s the 2020 Ford F-350 that really stands apart from the competition. To test-drive this heavy-duty pickup, visit us at Jones Ford. We’re proud to be your North Charleston Ford dealership.
