Which is more your style, the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport or Toyota RAV4? Our comparison guide is here to dive into the details. By the end, you should have a good feel of which of these small crossovers should be your daily driver.
Handsome Exterior: 2022 Ford Bronco Sport
The Toyota RAV4 looks sleek and refined, but its exterior styling is very typical of the small crossover segment. The Bronco Sport, on the other hand, takes its rugged exterior styling directly from the newly redesigned Bronco SUV, making it a standout option among small crossovers.
Everyday Driving: 2022 Ford Bronco Sport
Unlike the RAV4, the Bronco Sport offers two engine options:
- Turbocharged 1.5L three-cylinder engine (181 horsepower, 190 lb-ft of torque)
- Turbo 2.0L four-cylinder engine (250 hp, 277 lb-ft)
Both are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that powers all four wheels. And both engines provide a very friendly blend of power and efficiency, earning up to 26 mpg combined .
Although the Toyota RAV4 doesn’t offer you a choice, it does come standard with plenty of power, compliments of its 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine (203 hp, 184 lb-ft). And it even gives you a little extra fuel economy, earning up to 30 mpg combined .
Off-Road Chops: 2022 Ford Bronco Sport
Every Bronco Sport was built for adventure, with a high stance and standard four-wheel drive. To really take off-road performance to the next level, check out the Bronco Sport Badlands trim model. It comes straight from the factory with everything you need for a wild ride, including all-terrain tires, off-road-specific suspension, and an upgraded four-wheel drive system.
The Toyota RAV4 will take you down a light trail, but it’s not really built for rugged off-roading. And all-wheel drive is optional, so you do have to pay extra for this traction-boosting gear. There is an off-road-friendly RAV4, the TRD Off-Road, which comes with an off-road-tuned suspension and all-terrain tires. However, it won’t go as deep into off-road terrain as the Badlands, lacking features like upgraded four-wheel drive and underbody skid plates.
Modern Features: It’s a Tie!
Both small crossovers are brimming with comfort and tech features. There is some overlap between their standard lineups, including items like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, LED headlights, and frontal collision mitigation.
And both the Bronco Sport and the RAV4 offer a variety of trim models, so you can add more features according to what you’re willing to pay. Options include heated and ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charging, and blind-spot monitoring.
Choose Your Small Crossover SUV
The 2022 Toyota RAV4 is classy and competent, but the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport is the ultimate choice. Ford’s sporty new crossover delivers you everything you want, from thrilling off-road adventure to plush modern comfort.
